Premier Southern Gospel Events just took place"/>
Branson Missouri is home to one of America’s top Southern Gospel music events that takes place each August. Silver Dollar City’s Southern Gospel Picnic has been one of the biggest Southern Gospel music events for numerous years. It may be the shortest festival at Silver Dollar City, but it is one of the biggest in terms of the number of performers and guests in attendance.
At this year’s event more than 80 Southern Gospel artists and groups came to the park to perform. Numerous performers were featured each day throughout the park at various theatres. Each day concluded with a phenomenal concert at Echo Hollow. Popular Southern Gospel music groups in attendance included: Ernie Haase and Signature Sound, Triumphant Quartet, Tribute Quartet, Karen Peck and New River, and The Booth Brothers. Top soloists such as Joseph Habedank, Ivan Parker, and Pat Barker were also in attendance. The guests were definitely not disappointed with this incredible line-up of performers. In fact they showed their dedication to the event by sitting in the rain a couple of nights with ponchos and umbrellas just to hear their favorite Southern Gospel artists sing. Many sat for numerous hours in line just to see their favorite artists up close.
Several nights had thousands of people in attendance. Ernie Haase and Signature Sound’s concert had standing room only as there were more than 5,000 people in attendance. Many of the performers look forward to being able to participate in this event each year. It not only gives them the opportunity to sing in front of their biggest fans on one of the biggest stages, but it allows them to listen to and visit with other Southern Gospel performers that are at the event as well. It is such a privilege to be able to attend such amazing events like this in Branson.
Everyone is definitely looking forward to next year’s Southern Gospel picnic and will be eagerly awaiting the announcement of the 2017 Southern Gospel Picnic line-up.
