Making Memories at these Museums

Making Memories at these Museums
January 31, 2018

When it comes to entertainment, Branson’s got it!  I could go on and on about the phenomenal shows, tremendous variety, and quality performers;  however this time I want to focus specifically on museums.  For all you non-show-goers or for those that are looking to enhance their show packed itinerary, Branson has some of the most amazing and unique museums around.

First and foremost, Branson’s museums are so different one from another that visitors could have completely different yet very satisfying experiences at each.  In addition to their contents, these museums are very affordable, which doubles their appeal.

Take, for example, the Titanic Museum.  A Family Pass is $80 and that includes 2 adults and up to 4 kids age 18 and under.  This is a great value!  Each guest is provided with a boarding pass containing the name and story of an actual passenger aboard the Titanic.  What’s extra special about this museum is the attention to detail throughout, from the memorabilia expertly showcased to the interactive displays accompanied by audio recordings.  The written narratives and real-life photography adds to the moving experience.  The legacy of the Titanic, from triumph to tragedy, the anticipation, despair and hope of the people touched by the inception, the design, the building, the voyage, and ultimately the wreckage and subsequent rescue of the Titanic lives on through this exquisite display.

Another top-notch museum in Branson, MO is the World’s Largest Toy Museum Complex.  This one-of-a-kind attraction boasts two huge buildings packed with all sorts of nostalgic toys, dolls, props, games and so much more!  The very affordable Family Pass costs under $60.  2 adults and 2 kids age 7-17 are included.  Kids age 6 and under are FREE!  Easy on the wallet, this sets the stage for the perfect multi-generational excursion.  Visitors can come and go from one building to the next or even split the day up by visiting one complex in the morning and the other complex in the afternoon for a completely different experience.  It’s really two attractions for the price of one.  With exhibits and games throughout each complex as well as interactive displays, including photo opps, this tops the list for affordable family fun in my book!

You might as well make a day of it and visit the entertaining Hollywood Wax Museum Complex.  The All Access Pass allows each individual the opportunity to enjoy all that the complex offers, including the museum, which is chock-full of life-like, celebrity wax figures.  Have a camera ready because there are photo opps galore!  The outdoor, miniature golf course continues the Hollywood theme with lots more fun and of course, phot opps.  Adventure awaits inside as guests visit two different extremes.  For thrill-seekers, the Castle of Chaos awaits.   This highly intense, virtual  5D experience finds you  seated with the sensation of moving, as you laser blast your way through a creature infested town.   Designed so participants feel like they are inside the game, this experience can be both exhilarating and unsettling , which is what a lot of patrons seek, but  I recommend parental discretion in regards to young children and sensitive individuals.   For a more light-hearted experience, Hannah’s Maze of Mirrors is available.   A cute story unfolds as the journey through the mirrored corridor progresses.   Guests exit through the gift shop, brimming with cool souvenirs, along with unique celebrity-related and pop-culture items.  The gift shop itself is cool enough to budget 15 more minutes and extra spending cash!

Ripley’s Believe It or Not! Museum promises hours of entertainment for those who enjoy the bizarre!  Interesting doesn’t even do this “odditorium“ justice.  Let’s go with the more suitable synonyms of fascinating, captivating, and compelling!  An unforgettable memory in the making, this attraction is open daily with extended hours during peak season making it easy to fit into even the most packed vacations.

I haven’t even mentioned the nostalgic Ralph Foster Museum at the College of the Ozarks.  The cost is a pittance and the reward is great!  The idea was to preserve relevant Ozarks’ history.  The result is a nice mix of historical, geographical and credible artifacts, stories, photos, and paraphernalia of events,  people and related items, including the infamous jalopy from The Beverly Hillbillies.  https://www.rfostermuseum.com/Page/Museum-Video.2183.html

Highly recommended, the Dewey Short Visitor’s Center is free and informative.  This complex features a state-of-the-art interactive map of Table Rock Lake, the history of the Corps of Engineers, wall murals, Native American artifacts exhibit, displays that define the Ozarks, an interactive water safety exhibit and an incredible model that showcases the inner workings of a hydroelectric dam.

So if you’re looking for something fun to do other than shows, or you want to enhance a show-studded itinerary, any or all of the above serve as memorable options.  We’re here to help.  Give us a call, toll-free:  877.368.3782 for more information, directions, or additional recommendations.
